Kigali, Rwanda - 22 September 2026 - The Private Sector Federation (PSF) hosted a delegation of potential investors from Brazil's construction and engineering sector on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, for discussions on opportunities within Rwanda's construction industry, skills and technology transfer, and potential partnerships with local companies.
The engagement provided a platform for the Brazilian investors to gain a deeper understanding of Rwanda's construction and engineering landscape, including emerging investment opportunities and the potential for collaboration with Rwandan businesses.
Discussions also explored opportunities for knowledge and skills transfer, technology exchange, and joint ventures between Brazilian companies and local private-sector players. Such partnerships can contribute to strengthening local capabilities while creating opportunities for businesses to participate in Rwanda's growing construction and infrastructure ecosystem.
Speaking during the engagement, PSF highlighted the Federation's role in connecting international investors with Rwanda's private sector and facilitating business-to-business partnerships that support investment, innovation, technology transfer, and local economic development.
Strengthening Rwanda-Brazil Economic Relations
The engagement comes against the backdrop of longstanding and increasingly strengthened relations between Rwanda and Brazil. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1981, and bilateral cooperation has expanded over the years to include areas such as trade and investment, infrastructure, education, science and technology, agriculture, and health.
The two countries have taken further steps to deepen their relationship, including the establishment of resident embassies in Kigali and Brasília and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations in October 2025.
Economic cooperation has also gained momentum. In 2025, the Rwanda Development Board and ApexBrasil convened a Rwanda-Brazil Economic Cooperation Forum in Kigali, bringing together government and business leaders to explore trade, investment, and private-sector collaboration. The forum also resulted in cooperation frameworks involving RDB, ApexBrasil, and PSF.
Brazil and Rwanda have also strengthened their technical cooperation framework. In March 2025, Brazil promulgated the bilateral Technical Cooperation Agreement originally signed in 2007, providing a framework for cooperation in priority areas and technical knowledge exchange.
The latest engagement with Brazilian construction and engineering investors therefore represents another opportunity to translate the longstanding friendship between the two countries into business partnerships, investment, skills development, technology transfer, and job creation.
PSF remains committed to facilitating connections between Rwandan businesses and international investors and to supporting partnerships that contribute to the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Rwanda's private sector.
